There are often reports surfacing in the media about personal care workers not treating patients properly, which has tainted the industry’s reputation. Therefore, it’s essential to carry out due diligence before working with a home healthcare firm. Good governance is also necessary to improve standards.
Thankfully, The Government of Ontario is taking measures to conduct a consultation on the joint health and safety committee (JHSC) training standards and requirements found in the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
The Act aligns with the Government’s commitment to review such standards every five years. It’s specifically looking for feedback regarding training program standards, training provider standards, access to training, and the overall impact of JHSC training requirements.

As a company in good standing with Accreditation Canada, we welcome the latest steps taken by the Government. The new Act will help employees and clients stay safe in a workplace environment that can be incredibly stressful.
